In order to work on the projects we're suggesting here, you'll need a set of additional tools. We're going to give a short description here and add a link to the specific vendor side for download. Actually we're trying to find open source tools to full fill our needs. Sometimes this is not possible, but then we're trying to find a cheap solution.

WinMerge - Tuesday, January 24, 2006
WinMerge is an Open Source visual text file differencing and merging tool for Win32 platforms. It is highly useful for determing what has changed between project versions, and then merging changes between versions. You can download WinMerge at http://winmerge.sourceforge.net .
PushOK Plugin - Monday, January 23, 2006
Visual Objects is able use version control systems. Unfortunately it is bound ( as a lot of other development IDE's ) to Microsoft's Source Code Control API, which is supported , surprise , surprise, by Microsofts Visual Source Safe directly. Other version control systems have to implement the API in order to be used from this kind of IDE's. A company name PushOK Software Ltd. provide us with a product named CVS SCC Proxy. This is a little plugin component which provides access from practically all Microsoft SCC enabled software to general CVS repositories. You can download a trial version at http://www.pushok.com . This is not for free, but we found it well worth the money ( around 20 Euros ) .

CVSNT - Monday, January 23, 2006
If you're planning to setup up your version control system, you should definetely take look to CVSNT. It's a open source project and beining used by nearly all bigger open source sites like sourceforge.net and codeproject.net. You can download it at http://www.march-hare.com/cvspro/de.asp. Installation might be a little bit, let's say not easy. I will ask Michael Fischer if he's might upload his session paper from last years VODC where he described how to install CVSNT and secure it on a windows server.
TortoiseCVS - Monday, January 23, 2006
We're going to install a CVS server on this machine. In order to work with this CVS system you'll need a client package which is able to connect to the server and makes it easy to manage the version controll issues. We found a tool named Tortoise the best choice and you can download it at http://www.tortoisecvs.org/. When I have managed it to install the CVS server I will upload a document which will give you a walkthrough using TortoisCVS.
